Hidden Treasure: Pin Si in AMK Hub

I have a very bad habit, my blogs are not exactly written immediately after the actual event. Unless it is something I personally feel that there's an urgency, I'll normally file the photos and finally post a blog about 1 to even 2 months later (*sheepish smile* sometimes, even 3). Hope this clarifies as there were some questions raised recently on my whereabouts, I don't lie so don't go making assumptions on what kind of person I am. Thank you.

This dinner that I'm writing about in this entry is in fact, eaten some time before my departure to Bangkok, was to catch up with a friend before I go. We decided to meet at Ang Mo Kio Hub as I have a few errands to run there, so nice of my friend to be so accommodating. Thus, I decided to eat at any place that was decided upon as my friend was on a tight budget. However when we walked pass this completely not eye-catching eatery, my friend stopped and said "I want to eat here today."

It was definitely not a place that someone on tight budget would even look at, but I'm not saying that their pricing is expensive. In fact, I think it's quite wallet-friendly. I gave a gentle reminder on the budget issue but the decision was already "set in concrete". We walked right into Pin Si.

The place reminded me of one of those Hong Kong cafes that we already have here, however the concept is different. They serve mainly meal dishes making this place not as appealing as a "chill-out" option compare to the rest of the cafes. However, I am quite impress with the satisfying meal I had that I don't mind the inferior "chill-out" factor.

The menu
We ordered one serving of Shark Fin Soup to share
Just the kind of Shark Fin Soup I prefer, not too bland. With a good dash of red vinegar and pepper, perfect!
Other than Shark Fin (which is not the main ingredient I'm love), there's Scallop, Crab Meat (my favourite!), Fish Maw and Egg.
Look! We were so happy slowly sipping while waiting for the rest to be served.
Stir-fried Long Bean with Shrimp Paste (虾米酱干煸四季豆)
This is one of their highly recommended dish which I love. I'll order it no matter which restaurant I go, as long as it appears on the menu.
Pork Chop in Red Wine Sauce
The combination of the sweet, tangy wine sauce and tender meat was yummy
Stir-fried Prawns with Salted Egg
I'm going through a Seafood-Salted-Egg phase now, I love any seafood stir-fried with flavourful salted egg combo! Completely mouth watering.

Super satisfied with the well-cooked meal

It serves food similar to those of Dian Xiao Er and Crystal Jade, but less wallet-hurting (I feel).  I will definitely go back again next time I'm there for dinner! I am looking forward to try the rest of the dishes in their menu, maybe drop by their restaurant branch in Yishun Safra soon as well.
