Kanebo Kate Dual Carat Eyeshadow 2.3g

My Humble Rating: YYYYY

My hot, hot, hot favorite eye shadow! However, those who detest shimmer, please avoid this at all means. I just love the range so much that I collect them (retailing at approximately SGD17) from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan since they are tragically not available in Singapore. Each compact comes with 2 colors, one darker than the other. There is one single-tip sponge applicator but no mirror provided. The cover of the compact has this octagonal see-through portion for convenience to differentiate one compact from another at one glance.

Coming to the most important point, the eye shadow's texture is smooth, color's not over-powering, shimmer's very fine (minute specks of glitter). If applied using a brush, one can create a light shimmery film on your eye lids. For a more intensive effect, use the sponge applicator to layer on pigment (Perfect for creating the mysterious smoky-eye look). I love the sheen it gives when I use the darker tone pigment to line my lower lash line.

Overall, one has to kill me to say anything bad about this product because I'm totally bewitched by the diamond-sparkles. If I have to state one, it'll be: Why is this great product not in Singapore?!

Skin Food Rice Shimmer Powder 23g

My Humble Rating: YYYY

This is the first loose powder (retailing at approximately SGD 20) I tried. The fact is, I was initially attracted by its beautiful packaging. Underneath the screw-cap is a little puff that one can slip 3 fingers between the strap, providing me with the control I prefer. Give the container a good shake to dispense a decent amount of powder. The powder contains fine pearl powder and natural rice to give one a beautiful subtle shimmering effect. I can wear this even in the day and not feel abit like a Christmas tree. Rice powder is known to absorb excess sebum secreted, thus this powder not only sets one's foundation, it brightens and mattifies as well.

However, it comes only in one single shade. It still worked well for me as I'm quite fair and I normally apply a thin film of the translucent powder with a soft brush. It does not contribute much to coverage. On days that I do not apply any make-up, I will set my sunscreen with some loose powder to even out my skin tone.

Overall, this is one product I repurchased because it worked quite well for me.

ZA True White Two-way Foundation

My Humble Rating: YYYY

This compact is one of the first I hit pan bottom with. I can still remember the clean fragrance when I opened the packaging. I was first impressed with the coverage the fine powder provided. Somehow, it managed to control shine for me as well, thus was quite lasting. It's stated that this compact Inhibits melanin production while providing the skin with solid protection from UV rays (SPF 20 PA++).

There's nothing I will like to nag regarding this product, so maybe I'll just a simple application tip here. It's is not going to help for one with oily skin, to pile on thick layer of powder foundation to cover imperfections because once the sebum is secreted, the powder will 'coagulate' leading to the blotchy effect. This with bring attention to one's imperfection instead of covering it. Some foundation particles will even oxidise and turn dull. Thus, to prevent the above, less is more for areas that are more prone to sebum secretion. Apply sparingly with a sponge applicator with light pat-pat motion. Hope this helps ya!

Overall, a standard compact that I will opt for daily usage, nice that it come with SPF protection as well.

Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation 30ml

My Humble Rating: YYYY

I like this tube of gel foundation because it controls oil well for me. It is stated that this is a 50% water based formula that contains aloe vera, chamomile and Vitamin E to soothe skin. I'm just happy that although it minimises shine, it does not dehydrate my skin. The coverage is just nice, not too thick yet good enough to even out my pore problem.

I don't have much to complain regarding this product but I suggest that one work fast with gel product because if one is too slow, the gel may thicken slightly, making application a chore. Thus working fast with a sponge applicator will do the trick for this product.

Overall, this product is great if you are looking for a weightless & fresh-looking coverage.

Skin Food Lime Secret Shine Base 30g

My Humble Rating: YYY

This bottle of make-up base (retailing at SGD 27) is oil-free with reflecting natural pearl powder. Desired amount of the shimmery content is scope out with the spulta attach to the screw-cap. It is of a nice consistency and being green helps to even out the redness (normally occuring around the nose & mouth region). When used sparingly on its own, it can function as a highlighter to bring out your features (
apply on T-zone, cheek bones, outer-"C" of eye socket bone & chin). When mixed with with your normal foundation, you get a nice dewy effect.

I do face some problems using this product. Sometimes, it can get streaky if I apply it on it's own (maybe the problem lies in my own skin though). Although it is suppose to be oil-free, I still get too shiny by mid-day(once again it maybe my own problem again since i have combination skin). Thus I don't think the 'oil-free' label is adding any points for it, personally.

Overall, I will reach out for this bottle only on dull skin days/special nights. I'll just be a hardworking girl, "blot-blot" regularly.
